EURECAT presented XL-CONNECT research at the 4th ISETS International Conference (ISETS 2026) in Beijing, China, from 21–24 August 2026. The conference focused on energy transition and sustainability, with this year’s theme “The 2030 Energy System: Energy Transition in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
During the conference, EURECAT gave an oral presentation and submitted a paper entitled “Optimization of Distributed Energy Resources and Electric Vehicles in Microgrid Environments.” The contribution explores how electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy generation and energy storage can be effectively coordinated within local energy systems.
The paper presents an optimisation framework based on Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) to schedule energy flows in microgrid environments integrating photovoltaic generation, stationary batteries, EVs and grid interaction. In particular, the research examines how increasing the share of V2X-enabled EVs can affect grid imports, EV discharge and overall operating costs in a residential building scenario.
By sharing these findings at ISETS 2026, EURECAT contributes to the scientific and industry discussion on the integration of EV charging infrastructure with local energy systems. The research highlights the potential of V2X technologies to increase renewable self-consumption, reduce grid dependency and provide greater flexibility to future energy systems.
